Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in the performing arts (now known as Maureen O'Hara), would have placed her in America's child prodigy list. However, for a child from Irish origin, and surrounded by gifted parents and family, these were very natural traits. Maureen was welcomed into this cherished haven located in Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th of 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons, born in Dublin, is her mother. She was a talented contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman from Dublin who also controlled a portion of the Irish soccer team Shamrock Rovers. Maureen FitzSimons was the daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons made up this beautiful family. Maureen was a runner who was a star as a teenager. She enjoyed playing in athletic, rough sports. Her natural interest and her talent for performing was remarkable. This is why she was awarded almost all of the Feis Awards for her dramatic and acting performances within her own country. Her acceptance at the Abbey Theater by age 14, and she pursued her dreams of operatic and classical music and theatre.
